The Lean on Me Baby Home:

" The Lean on Me Baby Home officially opened its doors in November 2004. The LOM Baby Home is a safe haven for orphaned and vulnerable children from 0-3 years of age. The home can accommodate up to 15 babies at one time and provides a much-needed service to the local communities in the Valley of a Thousand Hills. The LOM Trust has two dedicated housemother's who care for the babies full time, while LOM volunteers are also enlisted to help with daily tasks and exercises and stimulation activities with the babies.

The Lean on Me Trust is hoping to open a number of these homes as there is a great need for them in rural Africa as the HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to take its course."

The Siyajabula Children's Project:

" The Siyajabula Children's Project is the Lean on Me Trust's second initiative. This project was started in August 2004 when Lean on Me learned of the many orphans stranded in the Lower Molweni community, a very rural community that has very little access to services and facilities.

Siyajabula Children's Centre will accommodate up to 30 young AIDS orphans in its four cluster homes in Lower Molweni. The children will be cared for by four fulltime foster mothers who have been specially trained and selected for the demanding, yet fulfilling positions.

The Siyajabula project is just the beginning of Lean on Me's involvement with the Lower Molweni community and various other initiatives are already being researched and planned including a children's hospice and youth skills and training programs.

Lean on Me enjoys a very constructive and rewarding relationship with this very special and beautiful community. All projects and initiatives that are undertaken by LOM are dedicated to improving community participation and empowerment."
