Childrens Rooms

The childrens rooms have all been painted and decorated by volunteers. The children also received new beds, bedding and memory boards next-to their beds where they can pin down all important things they want to keep or remember. Each childs bed has a range of teddy bears to dolls to action figure toys to keep each child company at night.

Office Floor Repaired

The volunteers realised that the office of the orphanage was a good place to get started as many visitors see this first and then may decide on helping the home in some way if they are impressed. The volunteers decided to repair the floor tiles by laying down new plastic ones.

Vegetable Garden

The volunteer decided it would be very important to create a healthy vegetable garden to help nourish the childrens diet. The garden was such a success that local, poor widows have been given a small piece of land on the orphanage property to start a vegetable garden like ours.

Complete Revamp of the boys & Girls Bathroom

It was clear from the start that something had to be done about the bathrooms that were in a shocking condition. Lean on Me managed to get a huge sponsorship from CTM a tiling company in South Africa to re-tile both bathrooms. With the help of the children they managed to create beautiful bathrooms with mosaics on the walls and painted decorations. There work was truly inspiring and a good example of what can be done when volunteers from around the world all work together.

Painting of a Wall Mural on the building

The volunteers painted a huge, beautiful wall Mural titled Lean on me and AGAPE. This colourful work of art can be seen from the street and is sure to create awareness of the project.

General painting

Volunteers have been extremely helpful in painting the outer walls of the orphanage. One volunteer, Jo-Ann Hoekstra from Holland had an incredible idea to paint a black board on an outer wall where the children can draw all over the wall in chalk.

Bush Clearing and creation of a soccer Field

As you know the children are really good soccer players and so the volunteers decided to make them a soccer field on the property. Very long grass had to be cut and soccer posts placed in the ground. The children are so happy with their recreational field now and spend most of their afternoon there.
